Annual Meeting follow-up

Pat Wiltshire, chair of the Water Quality Improvement Committee, reported to the membership on the status of this project. Highlights of his report are listed below.

A LARE grant was awarded to OMLCIA for a maximum of $120,000.

The contract with Superior Seawall, Docks, and Dredging (Illinois) is for $76,900. The OMLCIA required match is $15,380.

Approximately 5,000 cubic yards of organic material and sediment will be removed hydraulically.

The project is 75% complete. An additional 10-12 days of work will resume after July 4.

The sediment dewatering basin will be removed in November. Any necessary landscape remediation will also be completed at that time.

The county surveyor plans to clean out the Dove Creek sediment traps in 2017 after money from the ditch tax collections becomes available.
